🎵 CPR to the Beat: The Playlist That Could Save a Life

The Playlist That Could Save a Life (or at Least Make It More Rhythmic)

So, you’ve taken a CPR class. You know it’s 100–120 compressions per minute. But in the middle of a real emergency, math flies out the window. What sticks? Music.

Welcome to your new CPR playlist. Not only do these tunes have the right tempo for chest compressions, but they’ll also make you laugh, cry, or at least raise an eyebrow while you're saving a life. Because nothing says “hero” like belting out Bee Gees lyrics mid-compression.

🧠 Wait… Why Music?

The American Heart Association recommends giving chest compressions at 100 to 120 beats per minute. That’s exactly the tempo of some of your favorite songs—whether you admit to loving them or not.

🎶 Certified Life-Saving Bops (Yes, Seriously):

  1. “Stayin’ Alive” – Bee Gees
The gold standard. Disco lives, and so do you.
    🕺 Ah, ha, ha, ha…
  2. “Another One Bites the Dust” – Queen
Morbid? Yes. Ironic? Also yes. But it's 110 bpm and
    highly effective.
  3. “Maniac” – Michael Sembello
From Flashdance. Just imagine CPR with legwarmers and determination.
  4. “Crazy in Love” – Beyoncé (feat. Jay-Z)
    CPR level: Sasha Fierce.
  5. “Baby Shark” – Pinkfong
Yep. It works. And your kids will
    never forget the training.
  6. “Uptown Funk” – Bruno Mars
CPR so funky, it brings people back to life. Don't believe me? Just watch.
  7. “I Will Survive” – Gloria Gaynor
    You better believe they will—with
    you on compressions.
  8. “MMMBop” – Hanson
Still no one knows what the lyrics mean. But the tempo? Life-saving.
  9. “Eye of the Tiger” – Survivor
This song alone has probably saved at least 4,000 movie heroes. You’re next.
  10. “Work It” – Missy Elliott
CPR is basically flipping it and reversing it, right?
  11. “Sweet Caroline” – Neil Diamond
    Hands… doing compressions…
(BAH BAH BAH) CPR never felt so good.
  12. “Bad Romance” – Lady Gaga
Appropriate for saving lives and reflecting on your exes simultaneously.

🎧 Need to Practice?

Grab a pillow, press play on the playlist, and try doing 30 compressions to each song. You’ll build muscle memory and rhythm. Bonus: your neighbors may start to wonder what kind of party you're having.
