The Chain of Survival:
Your Link Matters

When someone’s heart stops beating, survival depends on what happens in the first few minutes. That’s where the “Chain of Survival” comes in—a series of critical actions starting with early recognition and CPR, followed by early defibrillation (AED use), then rapid emergency medical services, and finally post-cardiac care.
But here’s the kicker: most of the links in that chain rely on you—the bystander. The person who recognizes something is wrong. The person who calls 911. The person who starts compressions. Even the best EMTs can’t save a life if they arrive too late.
Don’t be the broken link. Our classes at Life Squad RVA walk you through each piece of the chain so that, when every second counts, you know exactly what to do.
