The Guy with the CPR Dummy and the Dad Jokes

Hi there, lifesavers-in-training!

Before we dive chest-deep into CPR, first aid, and all the glorious ways you can become someone’s real-life hero, let’s start with an introduction. Meet Dave—founder, certified NREMT, and full-time life-saving enthusiast at Life Squad RVA.

He’s not just the guy who teaches you how to push hard and fast on a CPR dummy—he’s the guy who’ll make you laugh while doing it.

So, who is this Dave guy?

Well, imagine a mix between a firefighter, a stand-up comic, and your favorite teacher from high school. That’s Dave. He’s been teaching emergency care for years, and he’s passionate (some might say obsessed) with helping everyday people become confident, capable responders in a crisis.

Whether you’re learning CPR for the first time or brushing up on your skills, Dave’s got a way of making things fun, memorable, and totally non-intimidating.

What can you expect from this blog?

This blog is kind of like Dave: it’s educational, slightly sarcastic, and 100% focused on helping you be awesome in emergencies. We’ll break down everything from:

  • CPR tips (with playlists!)
  • Stroke signs and what to say to 911
  • How to wrap a burn like a burrito
  • When to slap on a tourniquet—and when not to
  • What to do when the only thing between you and chaos... is you

It’s real advice, backed by medical research, delivered with humor, heart, and the occasional “dad joke.”

Why? Because life-saving doesn’t have to be boring.

You’re way more likely to remember how to use an AED if someone explained it with a joke and a demo than if you had to read a manual (yawn). At Life Squad RVA, we believe learning how to save lives should be:

✔ Effective
✔ Easy to remember
✔ Fun (yes, really)
